Booomers International is not just a company but one with a social mission to support growth and empowerment in rural Ghana. A classic example of social enterprise. Booomers has as part of its social mission, to empower vulnerable children and youth, supports its sister organization, the Yonso Project to undertake several programs and activities which empowers local communities to break the cycle of poverty.
Apart from providing direct and indirect employment to youth in rural communities, Booomers supports educational development in the form of scholarships and literacy programs to empower children access quality education. We are putting up a model school that will serve thousands of children from different communities. 50 Acres of bamboo are being cultivated by Booomers, an additional 200 farmers are engaged in Agro-forestry program to cultivate over 200 hectares of Bamboo. 50 rural youth directly employed at the factory and 10 youth engaged in the cultivation of bamboo. 20 youth indirectly employed through bamboo harvesting 150 rural school girls get bikes for schooling. Over 400 rural school children get support through a scholarship program and 8 communities get access to libraries and computer labs
About Kwabena Danso
Kwabena Danso is the founder and the Chief Executive Officer of Boomers International. He was born and raised in the town of Yonso and has had a lifelong interest in community and educational development. He is also the Executive Director of the Yonso Project.
He graduated in 2006 from the University of Ghana in Legon with a bachelor’s degree in Psychology and a Master of Business Administration degree in Finance from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology. He is a Global Fellow of the International Youth Foundation.
In 2012, Kwabena won two prestigious awards which included the AIRTEL TOUCHING LIVES AWARD and the President of Ghana’s Award for Grass root and Rural Community development. Kwabena has five years’ experience in the manufacture of bamboo bicycles.
