On a beautiful evening at the Gold Coast Restaurant, the Rotary Club of Accra-South experienced a changing of the guard. A room packed with dedicated club Rotarians and visiting guests witnessed the handover from Past President Francis Decker to our new President, David Suttah.
Outgoing President, Francis Decker, gave a heartfelt speech, reflecting on his tenure and the achievements we’ve made together as a club. Among these was the impactful Kwakrom Anglican Basic School Sanitation and Water Project, a significant contribution towards improving sanitation and water access at an estimated cost of $24,000 to be commissioned in August of 2023. Francis also took pride in the successful launch of our welfare scheme, a testament to our collective effort in creating positive change in our community.
But even with these achievements, Francis emphasized the necessity of constant growth, challenging us with the task of creating a comprehensive plan to increase our meeting attendance.
As the baton was passed, David took center stage, his vision for the future aligning perfectly with this year’s theme of creating hope. He introduced his flagship project, a massive undertaking involving the renovation and upgrading of the James Camp Infirmary. Not stopping there, David announced plans for joint health screenings, visits to the Baptist Vocational Training Center, and the revival of the Rotaract club.
David introduced his team of dedicated Rotarians who will help him achieve this vision. Each brings unique skills and experiences that will undoubtedly contribute to a successful and hope-filled year. His message was deeply rooted in this year’s Rotary theme, “Create Hope in the World,” imbuing the evening with a sense of anticipation and optimism.
As the formalities concluded, the camaraderie amongst club members and guests was palpable. The evening turned into a delightful gathering, full of networking, laughter, and an infectious hopefulness for the year ahead.
As we embark on this new chapter with David at the helm, we’re inspired to dream bigger, act bolder, and create an enduring legacy of hope. Here’s to an exciting year ahead for the Rotary Club of Accra South. We can’t wait to see what we can achieve together!
